Police clear Sen.Abbo of alleged rape charges

The Nigerian Police have officially cleared Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo of allegations of rape following an investigation into claims made in September 2025.
The probe was launched after Mrs. Zainab Mohammed petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging that Senator Abbo raped Khadija Mohammed at his Katampe Extension residence in Abuja on June 29, 2025.
Four units of the police—FCID Gender Unit, National Cybercrime Centre, Intelligence Tactical Unit (ITU), and the Medical Unit—were tasked with investigating the matter.
Findings obtained and signed by DCP Oki Rita Oyintare of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) on October 23, 2025, indicated a lack of credible evidence.
The report highlighted several factors that contributed to Abbo’s exoneration, including the time lapse between the alleged incident and the official police report, intact medical findings from Deda Hospital, and the absence of evidence at the alleged crime scene.
Statements from all persons present at the Senator’s residence at the time—including household staff and the complainant—indicated that no crime took place.
Commenting briefly on the matter, Senator Abbo said he had no personal remarks, emphasizing that he believes in divine justice.
“God will expose all evil plans against me and reward the doers according to their deeds,” he stated.
