Police arrest two suspected drug dealers in Ado-Ekiti raid

Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested two suspected drug dealers during a tactical raid on an illicit drug market in Ado-Ekiti.

The operation, carried out by officers attached to the New Iyin Division, followed credible intelligence regarding illegal drug activities concentrated around the Alade Garage area in Basiri, Ado-Ekiti.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Sunday Abutu, identified the suspects as Promise Fáṣọlá and Ileri-Oluwa Alao.

While the duo was apprehended during the sweep, several other accomplices managed to flee the scene.

Abutu noted that the operation was in strict compliance with directives from the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Micheal who has ordered all Divisional Police Officers and tactical units to intensify raids on known criminal hideouts across the state.

During the raid, the Police recovered a variety of suspected illicit substances, including; Colorado,
Indian Hemp and Loud.

The Police also seized a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine, an Android phone, and a power bank, which are believed to be tools used in the facilitation of the illegal trade.

The Police spokesperson stated that the suspects have allegedly confessed to their involvement in the sale of illicit drugs.

They remain in custody and will undergo a thorough investigation before being formally charged in court.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has urged residents of Ekiti State to remain vigilant and continue supporting the command with timely information on criminal activities.

He emphasized that such cooperation is vital to the success of ongoing security operations aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements.
