Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested suspected armed robbers, a suspected gunrunner and alleged cultists in separate intelligence-led operations across the state, recovering four locally made firearms, four live cartridges and other incriminating exhibits.

The arrests were made as part of the Command’s sustained crackdown on violent crime, illegal firearms and cult-related activities, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, disclosed in a statement.

According to the police, the operations were carried out following credible intelligence gathered by tactical teams deployed to various parts of the state. During the raids, officers arrested several suspects believed to be involved in armed robbery, illegal firearms trafficking and cultism.

The Command said four locally fabricated firearms and four live cartridges were recovered during the operations, alongside other exhibits believed to be linked to criminal activities. The recovered items have been taken into police custody as investigations continue.

The police added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal syndicates and dismantle their networks across the state.

Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating violent crimes through intelligence-driven policing. He warned criminals to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.

The Commissioner also urged residents to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information that would assist security agencies in preventing and fighting crime across the state.
