Police arrest Mother for allegedly using hot knife on 7year old daughter

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Ogechi Ofoma, over the alleged brutal abuse of her seven-year-old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma, in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The child was rescued on Sunday, September 13, 2026, following the intervention of security personnel from Ibollo Community, Awada Obosi, and concerned residents who discovered the alleged abuse.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
According to Ikenga, the police received a report in the evening of September 13 concerning alleged child abuse and severe bodily injuries sustained by the young girl.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the child was subjected to severe physical abuse, including injuries inflicted with a hot knife.
Following the intervention of community security personnel and residents, the victim was rescued from further harm, and her mother was promptly arrested.
Ikenga assured the public that the investigation will be conducted thoroughly and professionally, stressing that the welfare, safety, and best interests of the child remain paramount.
He added that the command will ensure appropriate legal action is taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
