PFIPC probe: Gbajabiamila voluntarily honoured our invitation — ICPC

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has clarified that the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, was not arrested by the anti-graft agency.

The Commission confirmed that Gbajabiamila voluntarily honoured an invitation to provide a statement as part of ongoing investigations into the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The ICPC made this known officially on Tuesday when it debunked rumors surrounding his appearance at its headquarters in Abuja, affirming that the Chief of Staff cooperated fully with investigators before returning to his official duties.

“The Chief of Staff’s visit was on the invitation of investigators and consistent with ongoing efforts to gather all relevant facts in the matter. He was not arrested; he simply willingly honoured an invitation,” the Commission stated.

The investigation follows a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who mandated the anti-corruption agency to conduct a comprehensive probe into the operations of the PFIPC, an entity the Presidency has disowned as fictitious and fraudulent.

The probe aims to establish how the council operated from within government facilities using forged documents and impersonating a federal institution.

The ICPC disclosed that investigations into the matter are still active and ongoing.
