The inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) is more than a formal political ceremony. It marks a renewed commitment, strategic direction, and collective responsibility. It brings together political leaders, experienced campaigners, and grassroots mobilisers under a common mandate to translate the party’s political vision into effective action.

The APC has distinguished itself through its extensive administrative framework, nationwide presence and ability to coordinate diverse political interests. From its national leadership to its state and grassroots structures, the party has developed a system that supports communication, planning and the distribution of responsibilities. Its recently concluded party registration exercise further reflects its determination to expand its membership base and strengthen its presence across the country.

Beyond its internal structures, the party has shown strong political coordination. Bringing together stakeholders with different interests requires leadership, consultation and a shared sense of purpose. The APC’s ability to sustain relationships across different political constituencies has contributed to its growth and strengthened its position in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Its approach to strategic alliances also deserves recognition. In a political environment as diverse as Nigeria’s, building partnerships requires negotiation, accommodation and sound political judgement. The ability to engage other parties and stakeholders, identify common interests and work towards shared objectives remains an important asset in democratic politics.

The APC’s mobilisation capacity is another defining strength. Its ability to bring together party faithful, political stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, women and grassroots supporters across the country gives it a formidable presence. From major political rallies to ward-level engagements, effective mobilisation requires more than large crowds; it demands networks that can reach communities, communicate the party’s message and sustain engagement with voters. This reach, combined with its national spread, gives the APC a significant platform for electoral participation. For the newly inaugurated PCC, the priority is to harness this capacity through purposeful coordination, inclusive engagement, and a clear message that connects the party’s vision with Nigerians’ aspirations.

Policy development and documentation are equally essential to any serious political party. Political campaigns must go beyond slogans and public appearances to present clear priorities, credible proposals, and practical solutions to the challenges citizens face. The PCC has an important responsibility to communicate the party’s policy direction to Nigerians in a coherent, accessible, and relevant way.

Electoral mobilisation is another area where the APC has shown considerable strength. Effective campaigns require grassroots engagement, well-deployed party agents, voter outreach, and a clear understanding of electoral procedures. These responsibilities demand careful preparation and sustained coordination. The newly inaugurated council must ensure that its campaign activities reflect these principles at every level.

Respect for the rule of law is equally important. Nigeria’s democratic experience has shown that electoral disputes must be resolved through established legal channels. Political parties demonstrate maturity when they respect judicial decisions, even when they do not favour them. Accepting the courts’ authority reinforces democratic institutions and reminds political actors that the pursuit of power must remain within constitutional boundaries.
