Oyedeji urges patience amid Basketball League delay
A former Nigerian basketball captain, Olumide Oyedeji, has urged players in Nigeria to stay hopeful, assuring them that better days lie ahead for the league system.
Oyedeji made the call on Thursday in Lagos during an interview with newsmen
Four months into the 2025 sporting calendar, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) is yet to organise a league, raising concerns of another abridged season.
Oyedeji acknowledged the challenges faced by players and encouraged them to remain committed to their training and preparations despite the uncertainty.
As the South West representative under the Musa Kida-led board, Oyedeji appealed to stakeholders to unite and work together to revive basketball in Nigeria.
“It’s clear that things aren’t going smoothly. Many teams are eager to know the NBBF’s plans for both the men’s and women’s leagues.
“Numerous teams have continued training and preparing, hoping the NBBF will soon release a proper league schedule.
“But unfortunately, that hasn’t happened yet. We urge clubs to remain focused, as something positive will soon emerge,” Oyedeji said.
