The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Prince Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe, have congratulated the Osun State APC Chairman, Alhaji Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

Their goodwill messages were conveyed in separate statements issued to the press, celebrating Lawal’s contributions to the APC and his legacy of leadership in the state.

Oyebamiji, a gubernatorial hopeful in the upcoming Osun State election, commended Lawal for what he described as uncommon political virtues. He referred to the party chairman as a rare breed in Nigerian politics, a patriotic figure, and a unifying force within the APC.

In a statement personally signed by him, Oyebamiji praised Lawal’s unwavering commitment to the growth, stability, and internal harmony of the party in Osun State, noting his influence even while the party remains in opposition in the state.

He remarked, “We are delighted to celebrate you once again on the occasion of your 60th birthday, acknowledging your steadfast commitment to democratic principles and progressive ideals. You are, without doubt, a politician of distinction, a beacon of hope, and a source of inspiration to both the young and old across Osun and beyond.”

Oyebamiji described Lawal as instrumental in keeping the party united and competitive in Osun, saying his consistency, resilience, and tireless efforts have helped maintain the APC as a credible opposition and alternative government since its exit from office in 2022.

He added, “We are proud of your capacity, competence, and leadership qualities that have helped build a vibrant, resilient, and well-structured party poised for a return to power in 2026.”

“On behalf of my family, I join your immediate family, political allies, and well-wishers across Osun, Nigeria, and beyond to celebrate your landmark age. I pray the Almighty continues to grant you wisdom, sound health, and long life to serve Him, our party, and humanity at large. Happy birthday, Sir.”

Similarly, Dr Ogungbangbe described Lawal as “a quintessential leader, a strategic thinker, and a true progressive,” whose leadership, according to him, has brought unity and strategic direction to the party in Osun.

He commended Lawal’s ideological clarity and unwavering dedication to democratic values and sustainable development, noting that his stewardship has provided strong foundations for party organisation and grassroots engagement.

“Under the purposeful leadership of Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, our party in Osun State has continued to experience cohesion, visionary planning, and sustained mobilisation at the grassroots level,” Dr Ogungbangbe said.

He concluded by offering prayers for Lawal’s continued success. “As you celebrate today, may the Almighty guide your steps, strengthen your resolve, and grant you the grace to lead the Osun APC to greater achievements in the years ahead.”
