Over 138 homes, businesses powered in community solar project — Seplat reveals

…as 13,726 beneficiaries receive free eye-care services

Seplat Energy has revealed that one of its community interventions in 2025 delivered reliable electricity to 138 households and businesses through a solar mini-grid

The company disclosed this in its 2025 Social Performance Report, themed “Impact at Scale,” which highlights its interventions in energy access, healthcare, education and economic opportunities across its host communities.

According to Seplat’s 2025 performance report, the solar mini-grid was successfully launched and handed over during the year, providing electricity to households and businesses in the benefiting community.

The intervention forms part of the company’s broader efforts to improve access to reliable and sustainable energy, particularly in communities where access to electricity remains a challenge.

Beyond energy access, Seplat said its community investments also delivered significant interventions in healthcare and education during the year.

The company further disclosed that its “Eye Can See” programme provided eye-care services to 13,726 beneficiaries in 2025, including 441 surgeries and the distribution of 10,200 corrective glasses.

The company also equipped five Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) laboratories in public secondary schools, with 5.5kVA solar power installed to support the facilities.

The company noted that its social performance reporting is aligned with voluntary sustainability reporting standards, including the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and Global Reporting Initiative’s Oil and Gas Sector Standard.

Seplat’s community interventions come as the company continues to position access to reliable and affordable energy as part of its broader contribution to Nigeria’s energy transition and socio-economic development.

The company’s 2025 report is its second Social Performance Report and builds on its inaugural 2024 report, which focused on the impact of its corporate social investment initiatives and community development activities.
