Over 100 Nigerians benefit from Aliu Empowerment Program in Itele, Ota

Over 100 Nigerians have emerged beneficiaries of the Aliu Empowerment Program and the Aliu Development Fund in Itele, Ota, Ogun State.

The initiative, which is an integral component of Upsurge Global, orchestrated an extraordinary community healthcare outreach event on the 28th day of October 28, 2023.

The outreach had over 25 enthusiastic volunteers and dedicated healthcare professionals were united to serve the local community of over 100 beneficiaries, including young and old marking the launch of the “Vitality Vanguard; Promoting Health Across Ages” initiative.

This transformative event, a testament to the potential of collective action, addressed the unique healthcare needs of the community by providing an array of essential services, including free health screenings, health education sessions, physical exercises, BMI checks, and free health consultations. Participants, spanning from the young to the elderly, had the opportunity to access critical medical services while gaining valuable knowledge about health and well-being.

In a press statement by the communications team of Upsurge Global, the organisation reeled some of the highlights of the outreach to include:

“Comprehensive Health Screenings: The medical team conducted thorough health assessments with a focus on early detection and prevention, a cornerstone of community wellness.

“Family Health: Emphasis was placed on the health of the community’s senior citizens, offering insights into nutrition and well-being for the elderly.

“Community Unity: Beyond healthcare, the event celebrated community spirit with discussions on healthy living, disease prevention, and the importance of regular health check-ups.

“Physical Exercises: Attendees went through exercises activities and were also encouraged to engage in easy and effective physical exercises, receiving instructions for long-term sustainability.”

Director at Upsurge Global, Aliu Toluwani Victor, expressed his profound belief in the value of service to humanity. 

“This Healthcare Outreach represents our commitment to uplifting communities and making a positive social impact,” he noted. “In a world where many citizens in Nigeria and across Africa face challenging conditions, initiatives like this one are a privilege and a responsibility.”

He continued, “We are deeply moved by the transformative impact we’ve been able to achieve in the lives of Itele Community residents. This outreach is a testament to our collective dedication to community betterment.”

The highlight of the event was the glimpse of royalty as HRM OBA Musiliu Ademola;  Eletu-Ashorota, Ashorotalay1, Onitele of Itele-Otta, Awori Kingdom made a brief appearance at the event ground. Having just celebrated his first year on the throne, the Healthcare Outreach Project was a wonderful initiative he is proud to have approved of. Through the Palace Administrator, Mr. Waheed Oluwaseun, His Royal Majesty extended his feeling of gratitude to the organizing partners who chose Itele as a point of social change.

Mr Waheed Oluwaseun, the Palace Admin Officer to Onitele of Itele, in his short interview said, “When the Healthcare Outreach Project was brought to our attention, it was immediately granted as the Palace has been working on ways to aid the health status of residents in Itele. The initiative is an opportunity for people, especially the aged and senior citizens to remember that good health must be prioritized above all; it is non-negotiable.”

Amongst many praises the residents of Itele Community ushered on the team of volunteers and medical personnel, the review of Mrs. Adetunji Adebola, a beneficiary of the Healthcare Outreach and a teacher working in Lagos State was outstanding. 

She said, “I was informed my BP is fine and it’s such a great thing to know about our health once in a while. I have also been advised to watch my food intake, consume more fruits in order to live a healthy life. I thank the organizers for this setup.”

Mr. Braimo, another beneficiary and resident of Itele Community, pleaded with the Nigerian government to consider local areas like Itele in establishing social infrastructures that help the community.

“We need the government to help stabilize the country and make things affordable. Also, the building of clinics, hospitals and other things will help all of us living here,” he stated.
