Osun guber: Osogbo ruling houses back APC candidate, Oyebamiji

The campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, has gained significant momentum following his endorsement by all three major ruling houses in Osogbo as their preferred candidate.
The ruling houses, Sogbodede, Matanmi, and Lahanmi attributed their decision to a collective desire to restore the lost glory of the ancient town.
Speaking on behalf of the ruling houses, the head of the Sogbodede ruling house, Prince Agboola, the head of the Lahanmi ruling house, Prince Yekini Oyeniyi and the head of the Matanmi ruling house, Prince Tafa Olugbeja, expressed deep displeasure over the current status of Osogbo.
The Princes accused the incumbent administration of undermining Osogbo’s status in the scheme of things, stating that the time has come to liberate the town from the shackles of retrogression.
Announcing their readiness to work assiduously for Oyebamiji’s victory, the revered ruling houses expressed confidence that he would change the narrative when elected governor.
“We who are gathered here today represent the traditional institution in Osogbo, and we have said repeatedly that the current government has undermined us. Our pride has been taken away, and our land has been illegally encroached upon and re-demarcated. The current administration has failed us as a people and a town, and we are ready to vote them out come August 15th, 2026. What our forefathers fought and died for has been taken away because of the caliber of people governing us,” the Princes said.
“It is disheartening that despite court verdicts affirming our land boundaries with Ede, encroachments persist. The worst part is the state government’s obnoxious geo-location of certain parts of Osogbo, which now reflect as Ede. It is unheard of and ridiculous that notable areas in Osogbo have been skewed to favor the Governor’s hometown.”
“We have resolved to support Oyebamiji to correct these anomalies. It is regrettable that the stool that is supposed to stand firm and serve as a bulwark of defense for the people of Osogbo has been compromised. However, this is temporary, and we will overcome it. Our endorsement of Oyebamiji is genuine and sincere, and we are ready to vote massively for him,” they added.
In response, Oyebamiji praised the ruling houses and assured them that his administration would run an inclusive, participatory, and masses-oriented government.
Reiterating his commitment to fairness, Oyebamiji noted that no individual or town would be deprived of their rightful dues under his watch.
He called on the people of Osogbo and the entire state to turn out in large numbers to vote for him, stating, “The people’s aspirations and yearnings will be our government’s top priority when elected.”
