Osun election: Time for review, unity and forward march

By Rotimi Makinde
The Osun governorship election has come and gone. At this critical juncture, what our great party and our dear state require is not recrimination, but reflection; not blame, but building.
History is a patient and impartial judge. Every role played and every action taken by individuals and groups during this process will be recorded. The sacrifices, the commitment, and the interventions that helped change the narrative will not be forgotten.
I sincerely appreciate the exemplary character, courage, and resilience of our candidate, his deputy, and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.
Their steadfastness under pressure deserves commendation. I also acknowledge with gratitude the efforts of every group and individual whose contributions amplified our voice and strengthened our message at critical moments.
As our elders rightly say, “Man proposes, but God disposes.” We planned, we worked, and we prayed. While the outcome was not the one we desired, it is certainly not the end of the journey.
This is not the time to apportion blame over what was done or left undone. Such a path only deepens division. What we need now is unity of purpose.
For the avoidance of doubt, let me state my position clearly, I have no regrets. My commitment to the APC remains unshaken. My loyalty to our party and to the people of Osun State is total, and my resolve will not waver. A true party member stands by their house in both victory and setback.
The future is already here. The next round of elections will be upon us sooner than expected. Therefore, we must immediately commence a thorough and objective review, draw the necessary lessons, address identified gaps, and return to the field with renewed strategy, discipline, and unity.
In the words of wisdom, “When the house is shaking, wise children gather to hold the pillars, not to argue about the wind.” Let us hold the pillars of our party together.
Osun deserves purposeful leadership and sustainable development. With unity, commitment, and a clear plan, we will get there.
Forward ever. APC forever.
