Osun APC faults Adeleke’s N159bn infra plan over failure to deliver 100bn projects

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Osun State chapter has faulted Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration over failure to deliver the previous plan of N100 billion infra plan projects before embarking on its new N159 billion infrastructural plan projects in the state.

The main opposition party called on Governor Adeleke to stop insulting the collective sensibilities of the people of the state.

It would be recalled that Governor Adeleke administration recently unveiled a massive N159 billion infrastructure development plan in the state, while in October 2023, Governor Adeleke announced plans to build infrastructure worth N100 billion without borrowing, boasting of completing five flyovers by the end of 2024.

The party, in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, said the flyovers in Okefia, Lameco, and Ile-Ife are facing significant challenges, missing their completion deadlines, and are now at risk of being abandoned, while nothing has been done at Ikirun and Owode locations of the touted projects.

According to the statement, “Instead of making new promises, it would have been a tenable excuse if the government has resolved to focus on delivering the projects it already promised.

“Osun State deserves better. It’s time for the government to prioritize education, healthcare, agricultural development, and rural road infrastructure.

‘The state should take a cue from more advanced state capitals like Ilorin and Ibadan, which boast good road networks complemented with traffic lights.

“It is our conviction that the government’s inability to complete previous projects raises questions about its capacity to deliver on the new plan.

“The discerning minds in the society should find it expedient to hold the administration of Governor Adeleke accountable for its promises and ensure that the citizens of Osun State receive the development they deserve.

“Why has it been impossible for Governor Adeleke to replace the 1,500 teachers recruited by his predecessor, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, who were sacked at the onset of the administration of the governor in a similar way that he sacked 20,000 OYES corps members and thousands of health workers?

“We are not unaware of the fact that Governor Adeleke has an ulterior motive for the recruitment of the 1,000 Amotekun Corps recently as a credible fact check has revealed that majority of them who are political thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are attached to the state political functionaries, their wives and children, pliable leaders of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Osun State chapter and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at the expense of the security of the state,” its added.
