As the countdown to the Osun State gubernatorial election intensifies, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has expressed absolute confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reclaim power in the state come August 15, 2026.
Speaking on Sunday at the annual Ileri-Oluwa special Ramadan lecture held at his residence in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area, the former Osun State Governor attributed his party’s impending success to the verifiable track record and unforgettable imprints of past progressive administrations in the state.
Oyetola, who commended party members for their grassroots mobilization efforts, reaching out to youth, artisans, professionals, and rural dwellers, dismissed the political maneuvers of his opponents.
He asserted that no amount of propaganda or self-aggrandizement would hinder the APC’s path to victory, adding that his political rivals await a red card from the electorate.
Our winning assurance is rooted in hard work, our credible performance while in office, and the continued acceptability and popularity of our party, Oyetola stated.
He further emphasized that the party has maintained significant unity and harmony since 2022, a factor he believes will be instrumental in the upcoming poll.
Beyond the political rhetoric, the event featured a guest lecture by Sheikh Muhammad Jamiu Sanusi, who spoke on Humanity in Leadership: Islamic Principles of Governance and Loyalty.
The cleric urged leaders and wealthy citizens to embrace equity, fairness, and justice, using their resources to advance the cause of humanity.
The ceremony was attended by a broad spectrum of political leaders, dignitaries from within and outside the state, and prominent Islamic figures, led by the Chief Imam of Osogbo and Grand Imam of Osun State, Sheikh Musa Animasahun.
Oyetola concluded by calling for continued peace and unity among party faithful, while admonishing the Muslim community to observe the Ramadan fast with spiritual integrity.
