Osun 2026: Oyebamiji condemns deaths, urges CP to bring perpetrators to justice

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15 election in Osun State, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, has condemned the spate of political attacks and killings across the state, describing the incidents as criminal and unacceptable.
Oyebamiji stated this on Saturday during a visit to APC members who were allegedly attacked by political thugs and are currently receiving treatment at separate hospitals in Osogbo.
The APC candidate called on the Osun State Commissioner of Police to intensify efforts toward unraveling the circumstances surrounding the attacks and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Oyebamiji appealed to residents of the state to embrace peace and avoid violence before, during, and after the election. He added that Osun State has a reputation for peace and urged security agencies to ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.
“This is callous and criminal. I want to tell our people that the APC, as a party, is a structured entity that encourages peace. This election is not a war; it is an opportunity for the people to choose their leaders peacefully.”
“These are our people, the same people we want to govern. If we start killing our own people, who will we govern? I am Bola Oyebamiji, the candidate of the APC, and I condemn this totally. Enough is enough. We do not encourage killing in our state. The killing of any human being is a criminal offense, and whoever is caught will face the full wrath of the law,” Oyebamiji said.
Narrating his experience at the Akolapo Health Centre in Osogbo, Taoreed Mustapha (popularly known as Faronbi) said the incident occurred between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. in front of his parents’ house when he saw three motorcycles, each carrying three persons, arrive at the scene.
Mustapha explained that the attack was connected to his decision to defect from the Accord Party to the APC, claiming that he had been facing threats since leaving his former party.
Another victim, Ayoola Idowu, who works with a musical artist in Osogbo, said he was shot in the Gbonmi area by political thugs riding a motorcycle.
