Over 300 ward chairmen and elected local government councillors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have pledged their support for Otunba Iyiola Omisore as the party’s governorship candidate in the 2026 election.
The endorsement came at a meeting held at Omisore’s campaign office in Osogbo, where party stakeholders also canvassed for him to emerge as the consensus candidate.
The executives noted that while all APC aspirants are qualified, Omisore’s extensive experience in administration and politics, both within Osun and beyond, gives the party a strategic edge.
They expressed confidence in the blueprint of the Omisore Agenda and promised to intensify grassroots consultations on his behalf.
One by one, the ward leaders highlighted local challenges and urged the aspirant to prioritise grassroots empowerment if elected governor.
Former House of Representatives member, Ajibola Famurewa, described Omisore as “a reliable politician with the capacity to deliver victory for the party in next year’s election” and urged the ward chairmen to step up mobilisation.
Former Commissioner for Education, Folorunsho Bamisayemi, added, “Omisore holds you all in high esteem and will prioritise your welfare as well as the development of the state if elected.”
Addressing journalists, Senator Omisore thanked the chairmen for their collective support, noting that their consensus endorsement was “a clear signal of APC’s readiness for victory at the polls.”
He explained that since joining the race, he had met stakeholders across the state’s nine federal constituencies to intimate them of his ambition.
The governorship hopeful urged ward executives and councillors to spread his message across the state ahead of the party primaries. He also encouraged them to promote love and unity in their localities while rallying support for President Bola Tinubu.
Senator Omisore had earlier, on Monday 8th September 2025, met with local government party chairmen and council chairmen across Osun State.
