Only six northern Governors supported Tinubu in 2023 — Shettima reveals

…urges Politicians to play politics without malice like President Tinubu

Vice President Kashim Shettima revealed that only six out of the 19 northern governors supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 presidential ambition.

Speaking at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, during the turbaning of Kwara State Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin, Shettima described the intense political tension that characterized the campaign.

He noted that many obstacles were placed in Tinubu’s path, including political propaganda and resistance, but the President remained undeterred.

Highlighting the political dynamics of the period, Shettima praised Tinubu’s forgiving nature, pointing out that after the election, the President embraced and reconciled with all the northern governors who had initially opposed him.

He urged politicians to view politics without malice and to emulate Tinubu‘s large heart.

The Vice President also commended former President Muhammadu Buhari’s political firmness and noted that despite inheriting a challenging economic situation, the current administration’s economic team has pressed forward to steer the country toward recovery.

Earlier in his visit, Shettima inaugurated the Kwara State Revenue House and a garment factory in Ilorin.
