One dead in Okokomaiko crash, seven rescued

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed a fatal accident at Okokomaiko that claimed the life of a roadside hawker, as well as a separate multi-vehicle collision at Ogudu that left seven people injured.
In the first incident, a Lexus SUV with registration number SMK 674 HY struck an adult male hawker at Okokomaiko.

LASTMA officials arrived promptly to secure the scene and restore traffic flow, while the victim’s remains were conveyed to the Badagry Mortuary by officers from the Ketu Division.
In a separate rescue operation at Ogudu inward Toll Gate, LASTMA personnel intervened in a collision involving a Mazda commercial bus (MUS 231 YA) and another Lexus SUV (FKJ 23 HL).
Seven passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were evacuated to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) and the Nigeria Police Force.
All vehicles involved in both crashes have been moved to police custody for further investigation.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and maintain safe speeds, particularly during late-night hours.
He emphasized that heightened vigilance is essential to preventing avoidable tragedies on Lagos roads.
