Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has assured citizens that his administration is recording visible progress across key sectors including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and security, promising even greater achievements in the months ahead.
Speaking at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, Akure, during the 65th Independence Day celebrations on Wednesday, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted the transformative impact of his “OUR EASE” policy framework, under which several strategic projects are being executed simultaneously.
The Governor said the state is witnessing unprecedented developments, including the dualisation of the Akure-Idanre, Akungba–Ikare, and Okitipupa–Igbokoda roads, the construction of jetties and walkways in riverine areas, and the approval of five kilometres of road rehabilitation in each of the state’s 18 local government areas.
“Roads are not just pathways, they are lifelines that will boost commerce, agriculture, reduce travel stress and encourage economic activities and the daily life of our people,” he said.
On healthcare, Dr Aiyedatiwa disclosed the expansion of the state’s contributory health scheme, the completion of a pharma-grade warehouse to secure medicine supply, hospital renovations, and priority recruitment into the health sector.
“Our people in rural areas will no longer need to travel far to access basic healthcare. Beyond this, we have resolved that all health facilities in the State would be upgraded to meet global medical standards,” he added.
In education, he cited ongoing classroom rehabilitation, provision of instructional materials, bursaries, scholarships, digital learning initiatives, and free shuttle buses and boats for students.
In agriculture, he stated that 26,000 hectares of land had been secured and ₦7.5 billion earmarked to strengthen food security and create employment opportunities.
On security, the Governor noted that over 75 high-grade Hilux vehicles equipped with modern security gadgets had been deployed to security agencies across the state to ensure citizens feel safe in their homes, farms, markets, schools, and workplaces.
Dr Aiyedatiwa also commended citizens for their trust in the government, pledging: “In the coming months, you will see more progress. Ondo State is moving forward, Nigeria is moving forward; and nothing is beyond our reach.”
In his welcome address, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, described the celebrations as a recognition of the sacrifices of Nigeria’s forebears and a platform to showcase the administration’s achievements. He praised the Governor’s fiscal transparency and accountability as key drivers of reforms and transformational programmes that have positioned Ondo State on the global map.
