The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has reaffirmed his withdrawal from partisan politics, declaring that his sole focus as monarch is to serve humanity with fairness, justice, and dedication.

The monarch made the statement on Tuesday while receiving a high powered delegation led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at his Bodija residence in Ibadan. The delegation, which included former PDP National Chairman Senator Iyorcha Ayu, former Cross River Governor Senator Liyel Imoke, and former Kaduna Governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai, visited to personally congratulate the Olubadan following his recent coronation.

Oba Ladoja, 81, emphasized that while he no longer participates in politics, he cherishes his decades-long relationships with political friends and colleagues. “Now that I am Olubadan, I am no longer entitled to be anything else. My task is to serve my people,” he said, pledging that Ibadan would continue to pursue peace, prosperity, and justice under his reign.

The former Vice President used the visit to tender an apology for missing the coronation, citing logistical and protocol challenges, and commended the Olubadan for his lifelong dedication to public service.
