The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, on Tuesday, the Emir described the late monarch’s death as the will of Almighty Allah, noting that every mortal shall one day taste death.

Sulu-Gambari lauded Oba Olakulehin’s one-year reign, describing it as peaceful and impactful in sustaining the cultural heritage and traditions of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.

He extended condolences to the immediate and extended family of the late monarch, the Olubadan-In-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Rulers Council, the Government and people of Oyo State over what he called “a monumental loss.”

The Emir prayed for the repose of the monarch’s soul and for Almighty Allah to grant the people of Ibadan and Oyo State the fortitude to bear the loss.
