Oil prices drop to $89 per barrel on hopes for Iran talks

Crude oil prices fell toward $89 a barrel as fresh hopes for diplomatic talks with Iran eased supply concerns.

Despite tightening U.S. sanctions and maritime enforcement in the Gulf of Oman that have sharply curtailed Iranian crude exports to around 0.3 million barrels per day, market sentiment softened on optimism that diplomatic channels could ease tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The downward price movement reflects a market balancing immediate supply bottlenecks against the prospect of de-escalation.

While severe economic measures continue to restrict Iranian crude flows, traders have factored in the potential for diplomatic breakthroughs, temporarily halting the recent risk-premium rally and bringing stability back to global energy indices.
