The Police Command in Ogun says it has foiled a suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa and arrested three students.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday.

According to Babaseyi, the suspects, aged 12, 18 and 18, were arrested following intelligence about a planned cult-related activity tagged “Kito Day”, involving students from different secondary schools.

He explained that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Owode-Yewa, deployed detectives in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria to the scene on Thursday.

According to him, the operation led to the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of an axe, two knives, a short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag.

Babaseyi said that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.
