The Ogun State hospitality sector has received a significant capital injection with the commissioning of the Feliza Hotel and Suites in Obada, Ewekoro Local Government Area, a project valued at over ₦3 billion.
The Chief Executive Officer of the new facility, Mr. Oluwafemi Ayeyemi, disclosed the investment figure while speaking to journalists at the grand opening.
He noted that the project was conceived to bring Lagos-standard hospitality to Abeokuta, bridging the gap in quality service delivery within the state capital’s environs.
Ayeyemi explained that the hotel features a two-in-one concept, seamlessly integrating a state-of-the-art event center with modern accommodation to allow guests to host functions and lodge within the same precinct.
However, he used the occasion to appeal to the Ogun State Government to prioritize road construction, citing poor infrastructure as a major deterrent for diaspora investors looking to bring capital back home.
“Good roads will encourage more private investments and accelerate economic development,” Ayeyemi stated, emphasizing that infrastructure remains the backbone of the hospitality business.
The commissioning ceremony attracted prominent personalities, including a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi.
While praising the scale of the investment, Showunmi called on the state government to extend the same infrastructural support given to foreign conglomerates to indigenous investors.
Showunmi challenged the administration to address the poor state of access roads leading to such high-value facilities.
“You cannot bring foreign investors, provide infrastructure for them, and when our own people invest here, pretend not to know your responsibility. Ogun belongs to all who are lawfully contributing to its development,” he asserted.
He described Feliza Hotel and Suites as a world-class edifice with an event center comparable to high-end venues in Lekki, Lagos.
According to him, the facility is poised to place Obada on the global map while generating significant economic multiplier effects for host communities.
“This investment will attract people from within and outside the country. Beyond what guests will spend here, the surrounding communities will benefit significantly through job creation and increased commercial activities,” Showunmi added.
The launch of Feliza Hotel and Suites further underscores Ogun State’s growing reputation as an investment destination, though it highlights the urgent need for infrastructural upgrades to sustain local capital inflow.
