The Ogun State Government is set to perform the official groundbreaking ceremony for the multi-billion-naira Gateway Deep Sea Port this November.

The Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made this announcement during an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Ibiade, the headquarters of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

Speaking, Abiodun confirmed that construction on the port project will kick off before the end of the year, with a targeted completion date slated for 2030.

The state government’s aggressive infrastructure drive for the Ogun Waterside axis is designed to support the port and accompanying industrial investments.

This is as the Governor also announced the state’s approval for the immediate construction of the crucial J4-Gao Road. This will be complemented by a Federal Government-approved four-kilometer bridge linking the local government directly to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

These integrated transport corridors are strategically tailored to back the Gateway Deep Sea Port and an upcoming Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project. Together, these ventures are projected to transform Ogun Waterside into a powerhouse for international trade, energy, and logistics, while generating over 50,000 direct jobs.

Governor Abiodun expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast backing of the state’s maritime aspirations.

He emphasized that the administration’s deliberate focus on infrastructure is designed to harness Ogun’s prime position within the Lagos-Ogun economic corridor.

As preparations for the November groundbreaking gather momentum, the state government has urged youths to acquire relevant technical skills to fully harness the massive employment and business opportunities the port and LNG projects will unlock across manufacturing, maritime services, and logistics.
