Ogun Assembly confirms OGSIEC nominees

The Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the Governor’s nominees for appointment to the State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), affirming their eligibility to assume office following a successful screening.
The confirmation followed the passage of resolution H.R. NO.165/OG/2026, sequel to the adoption of the report from the Committee of the Whole House chaired by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide.
The report was presented by the House Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff.
According to the resolution, which aligned with the request of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the House officially granted the Governor’s request for the confirmation of all nominees.
Earlier, the House Leader presented the report and moved for its adoption, a motion seconded by Hon. Lukman Adeleye and supported by the entire House.
Hon. Sheriff stated that the Committee had thoroughly examined the nominees’ curricula vitae, credentials, and responses during the screening exercise, finding them suitable for the roles.
The motion for confirmation was subsequently supported by the House through a voice vote. Following this, the Speaker directed the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, to forward the resolution to the Governor for further action.
The confirmed nominees include Mr. Babatunde Adetona Osibodu, Mr. Tunji Akoni, Mr. Ayodele Bankole, Mrs. Gbemisola Onasanya, and Mrs. Oluwaremilekun Olaopa.
