…hails Tinubu for upholding consensus politics
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has presented the report of the Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Primary Election to the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, assuring that the exercise was conducted in full compliance with the law and the party’s constitution.
This was contained in a statement signed by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, on Wednesday.
The statement reads partly: “The Governor was at the National Secretariat to submit the report of the Ekiti APC Governorship Primary. The Governor served as the Chairman of the Ekiti State All Progressives Congress Governorship Primary Committee.
“Speaking at the short presentation ceremony, Governor Ododo thanked the leadership of the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the confidence reposed in him and the Committee. He said the process was transparent and all legal and procedural requirements were followed to deliver a hitch-free exercise.
“He hailed the party for adopting the Consensus Mode of Primary, saying the system remains the most peaceful mode.
“Receiving the report on behalf of the National Chairman, the Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the party, Dr. Chidi Duru, said the National Working Committee of the party is proud of the Governor for the way he handled the exercise. He said the Governor remains one of the star Governors of the party for always delivering assignments excellently.”
Governor Ododo expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, for the confidence reposed in him to lead such a crucial national assignment.
He stressed that the success of the Ekiti primary election underscores the growing institutional discipline within the party and the deepening of internal democracy.
The Governor noted that adopting the consensus mode has proven to be the most peaceful and unifying approach for candidate selection, adding that the method fosters cohesion, prevents unnecessary acrimony, and strengthens party structures across states.
According to the statement, Dr. Chidi Duru lauded Governor Ododo’s leadership style, describing him as “one of our best Governors who always delivers.”
He assured that the APC will continue to rely on the Kogi Governor for future assignments given his reputation for efficiency and transparency.
Dr. Duru also reaffirmed the party’s confidence in the consensus approach, describing it as a novel and effective mechanism for ensuring peaceful nominations, particularly in governorship primaries.
Earlier in the day, Governor Ododo paid a courtesy visit to the National Assembly, where he held a brief meeting with some Senators from Kogi State.
The visit, according to the statement, was aimed at drumming up support for the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu, and strengthening collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.
Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting unity and advancing the interests of Kogi State within the national political framework.
