The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that October salaries for federal workers would be delayed due to a software upgrade within the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

In a statement signed by Mr Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the agency clarified that the ongoing upgrade poses no threat to salary disbursement.

The statement reads partly: “IPPIS previously operated three payroll platforms. In 2024, one of the platforms was successfully migrated to the ‘SoftSuite’ application, leaving two active systems — EBS and SoftSuite.

“Due to the suboptimal performance of the EBS platform, the Federal Government has decided to consolidate all payroll activities under the SoftSuite application. This is not a new development but a continuation of an earlier initiative to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

“The integration of all payroll processes into a single platform has been carefully managed, and while minor issues may arise during the transition, all observed errors and omissions are being addressed promptly. The management does not anticipate any significant disruptions.

“October salaries remain intact and will be paid as scheduled,” the OAGF assured.

The Accountant General’s Office urged federal workers and the general public to disregard misleading reports suggesting otherwise, noting that the IPPIS consolidation exercise was a deliberate step to improve payroll efficiency and eliminate technical redundancies.

According to the statement, Treasury and IPPIS personnel have been adequately briefed and are already working to ensure that salary processing continues seamlessly.

The OAGF also appealed to the public to rely solely on verified information from its official communication channels, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and operational efficiency in government payroll administration.
