The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will commence nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
The scheme disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, noting that activities would take place simultaneously across the 37 NYSC orientation camps in the country.
According to the statement, registration for all prospective corps members will run from Wednesday, January 21, to midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, while the orientation exercise will formally end with a closing ceremony on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective corps members safe journeys to their states of deployment and advised them to avoid travelling at night.
NYSC management also urged corps members to strictly adhere to the orientation timetable to ensure a smooth and successful programme.
The NYSC scheme, established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, mandates the three-week orientation camp as the foundation of national service.
During the period, corps members undergo paramilitary drills, skills acquisition training under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, lectures on national issues and cultural activities aimed at fostering unity across ethnic and religious lines.
