The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five suspected railway track vandals and detained a truck conveying vandalised rail materials along the Bauchi–Jos Road.

The interception followed an intelligence-led operation, which uncovered a truck transporting vandalised railway tracks allegedly removed from Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Speaking on the development, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Oloyede Nelson, said operatives acted on credible intelligence and intercepted the truck at Miri village along the Bauchi–Jos corridor.

He explained that the vandalised railway items were cleverly concealed as bags of chicken feed and slippers in an attempt to evade detection.

According to the commandant, five suspects connected to the crime have been taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the alleged mastermind and the truck driver, who are currently at large.

Exhibits recovered during the operation include 80 pieces of vandalised railway tracks, five pairs of slippers, several bags of chicken feed used as disguise, a long vehicle truck, and a Lexus RX 330 with registration number BWR 60 DN.

Mr. Nelson reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting critical national assets and warned that individuals involved in the vandalisation of public infrastructure would be made to face the full weight of the law.
