NMDPRA seals seven filling stations in Kogi for under-dispensing
The Nigeria Mainstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed seven filling stations in Kogi State over allegations of under-dispensing petroleum products to customers.
The NMDPRA Kogi Coordinator, Mr Ogbe Godwin, made the announcement during a press conference on Thursday in Lokoja, where he also accused the stations of operating without authorisation for their branding.
The affected stations include Solag Resources Ltd. in Ankpa, Hismus Oil and Gas in Obajana, Riyenic Global Ltd. in Oke-Ibukun Kabba, S.O.T Nigeria Ltd. in Kabba, Omuo Kabba, Marktot Oil and Gas in Kabba, and NIPCO Filling Station.
Godwin expressed his concerns over the actions of certain oil marketers, accusing them of sabotaging government efforts for personal gain.
“As far as NMDPRA is concerned, we will not tolerate such behaviour in Kogi State. Under-dispensing petroleum products is a serious offence, and any marketer found guilty will face the full force of the law,” he said.
The coordinator further noted that NMDPRA had visited 50 filling stations and sealed seven for under-dispensing. Additionally, four filling stations were shut down for operating without licences.
The unlicensed stations were identified as Absala Oil and Gas, Yak Ali Oil and Gas, Yamuda Nigeria Ltd, and Hanimat Nigeria Ltd, all located in Ankpa Local Government Area.
“We will no longer tolerate any marketer operating illegally in the state. It is better for them to comply and register their stations with the Federal Government, or they will face the consequences,” Godwin warned. “NMDPRA will not give any leeway to those looking to undermine government efforts, and we will ensure that petroleum products are available in Kogi State without compromise.
