The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa and senior officials from Business Sweden, strategic partners at the Sweden-Nigeria Roundtable on Digi-Tech Infrastructure are exploring partnerships on digital infrastructure to bolster Nigeria’s digital future.

The event was convened to deepen cooperation between both countries and promote a shared vision for a connected, inclusive, and sustainable digital future.

The roundtable served as a platform to foster strategic partnerships between Nigeria and Sweden, two innovation-driven economies with a strong commitment to digital transformation. It brought together government representatives, technology leaders, and private sector stakeholders to explore avenues for collaboration that can strengthen Nigeria’s digital landscape.

In his remarks, Inuwa highlighted the importance of such partnerships in achieving Nigeria’s national digital economy goals.

He noted that international collaboration remains vital in addressing infrastructural gaps and leveraging global expertise to accelerate progress in areas such as broadband expansion, smart infrastructure, and digital inclusion.

Representatives from Business Sweden, including Ms. Sara Radu, Acting Vice President and Head of the Middle East and Africa, and Ms. Marlena Batist Hager, Trade Commissioner and Country Manager for Nigeria, reiterated Sweden’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital journey.

They emphasized that Sweden’s experience in building sustainable and secure digital infrastructure can complement Nigeria’s growing technology ecosystem.

The discussions also focused on developing policy harmonisation frameworks, innovative financing models, and cybersecurity strategies that can ensure a stable and trusted digital environment. Capacity building and skills development were identified as critical components in sustaining Nigeria’s digital transformation drive.

Both countries acknowledged that a sustainable digital future requires not only technological innovation but also strong collaboration between the public and private sectors. Participants stressed the need for environmentally conscious digital infrastructure that promotes both economic growth and environmental protection.

With Sweden’s proven expertise in green technology and digital infrastructure and Nigeria’s dynamic and youthful tech ecosystem, the partnership is expected to create a powerful synergy for mutual growth. The Sweden-Nigeria collaboration marks another milestone in NITDA’s ongoing efforts to build a digitally empowered and globally competitive Nigeria.
