Nigerian Police Declare Man Wanted for Homosexual Practices
The Nigerian Police have issued a wanted notice for Mr. Fredrick Aitalokhai Oarhe in connection with allegations of homosexual practices, an offence deemed illegal under Nigerian law. The declaration follows an incident involving his alleged partner, Ogidigo Abiodun, who was apprehended by police during a routine vehicle check earlier this month.
According to statements made by Ogidigo Lucky, the brother of Ogidigo Abiodun, the police discovered explicit photographs and video recordings on his brother’s phone that purportedly involved Fredrick Aitalokhai Oarhe. The incident occurred on January 15, 2024, when a police officer stopped their vehicle at a checkpoint. The evidence found on Ogidigo Abiodun phone reportedly led to his immediate arrest.
In Nigeria, homosexuality is a criminal offence, and the practice is socially condemned, creating a high-stakes environment for those accused. Ogidigo Lucky affirmed in an affidavit that he accompanied the police on several occasions to Fredrick Aitalokhai Oarhe residence in an attempt to facilitate his arrest, but their efforts have been unsuccessful. Despite multiple visits, including late-night attempts, Fredrick Aitalokhai Oarhe has remained elusive.
The police have made it known that anyone with information regarding Fredrick Aitalokhai Oarhe whereabouts could receive a reward for their assistance in apprehending him.
The police urged anyone who may know his location to come forward, as the investigation continues and Fredrick Aitalokhai Oarhe remains a wanted individual.
