Nigeria and Argentina have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of information exchange, media collaboration, and cultural diplomacy.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday signed by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation.

The statement reads partly: “On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, I want to assure Your Excellency that we value this visit and see it as another step towards strengthening the friendship and partnership between Nigeria and Argentina. Our Ministry remains committed to fostering collaboration that promotes mutual understanding, especially in the area of public communication, cultural diplomacy, and people-to-people exchange.”

“I congratulate Ambassador Perrazo on his continued service in Nigeria, acknowledging his earlier role as Deputy Head of Mission and his current tenure as Ambassador. I am confident that his leadership will help advance bilateral cooperation in media development, information exchange, and public enlightenment.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, received the Argentine Ambassador, His Excellency Mr. Nicholas Perrazo Nao, at his Abuja office on Wednesday, describing the courtesy visit as a key step toward strengthening diplomatic relations.

Minister Idris highlighted the long-standing friendship between Nigeria and Argentina, noting that both countries have consistently cooperated in global and regional fora.

He described the meeting as an opportunity to explore new avenues for media collaboration and cultural exchange that would enhance mutual understanding and reinforce people-to-people diplomacy.

Ambassador Perrazo praised Nigeria’s leadership role on the African continent and expressed optimism that closer engagement in information and media sectors could help both nations project accurate and positive narratives internationally.

He emphasised that cultural and sporting activities, such as the ongoing under-20 football fixture, play a symbolic role in cementing bilateral ties.
