Niger inaugurates committee on livestock production

Niger government has inaugurated a 22-member livestock development committee to drive agricultural transformation and sustainable development in the state.

Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Secretary to Niger Government inaugurated the committee in Minna on Friday.

He emphasised the state government’s commitment to agricultural development, saying the Gov. Umaru Bago-led administration remains committed to support the initiative.

He urged members of the committee to leverage their wealth of experience, dedication and passion for service to drive impactful initiatives that would revolutionaries the state livestock sector.

Usman said that the committee work aligned with the state agenda to diversify the economy, create jobs and ensure food security.

The SSG expressed confidence that the committee efforts would help boost livestock farming, disease control and value chain development.

In his remarks, Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Umar Rebe, Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, promised that the committee members would leverage their expertise, dedication and creativity to achieve the set objectives.

Also speaking, Dr Jonathan Wasa, Permanent Secretary and committee Secretary, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to work diligently to achieve the set goals.

He assured the government of members commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and best practices in livestock management.
