Niger govt, NSCDC arrest four suspected illegal miners, dealer in Minna

Four individuals allegedly involved in illegal mining activities, along with a suspected mineral dealer, have been apprehended during a joint operation in Minna, the Niger State capital.
The arrests were made as part of intensified surveillance efforts by the Niger State Government in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), aimed at curbing the growing menace of illegal mining across the state.
According to the Information Officer of the Ministry for Mineral Resources, Dibie Maureen, the suspects were nabbed during a coordinated raid on mining sites located around the 3 Arm Zone along Western Bypass and Caterigwari Mechanic Village in Minna.
The operation was led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Yunusa Nahauni, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling unlawful mining operations and restoring order in the sector.
