The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, is slated to be the Chairman of the Nigerian NewsDirect 15th Anniversary and Awards Ceremony, scheduled for November 29, 2025.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Executive Director of NewsDirect, Prince Mathew Ibiyemi, who described the NiDCOM boss as a distinguished leader whose outstanding contributions to national development and media advocacy make her a fitting choice for the milestone celebration.
“Having Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa chair this special 15th Anniversary and Awards event is a great honour. She represents integrity, patriotism, and excellence the very ideals that define the NewsDirect brand,” Ibiyemi stated.
Ibiyemi noted that the event will not only mark 15 years of impactful journalism but also serve as a platform to reaffirm the media’s vital role in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Dabiri-Erewa, a former broadcast journalist and lawmaker, currently heads NiDCOM, where she has championed policies and programmes that strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and its diaspora community.
The anniversary gala, which Ibiyemi described as a night of honour and reflection will celebrate Nigeria NewsDirect’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of Nigeria’s most respected national newspapers.
Expected guests at the November 29 event include top government officials, business leaders, diplomats, media executives, and civil society representatives.
