NEMA begins distribution of flood relief materials in Lagos

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, has commenced the distribution of relief materials to persons affected by flooding across five Local Government Areas of Lagos State.
The exercise began on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with the distribution to identified flood-affected persons in Kosofe Local Government Area. The intervention, held at the Kosofe Local Government Secretariat on Ogudu Road, is part of the Federal Government’s approved relief assistance to affected communities in Kosofe, Alimosho, Lagos Island, Ikeja and Eti-Osa LGAs.
The beneficiaries received approved food and non-food relief items aimed at providing immediate support and cushioning the impact of the flood disaster on affected households.
The exercise was conducted by officials of the NEMA Lagos Operations Office in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), security agencies, Community Development Association representatives and community leaders.
The beneficiaries and community representatives expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and NEMA for the intervention, noting that the assistance would provide support to households affected by the flooding.
The distribution in Kosofe LGA was successfully concluded, while the exercise continues in the remaining four LGAs of Alimosho, Lagos Island, Ikeja and Eti-Osa in line with the scheduled programme.
