NELFUND disburses ₦211m to LASUSTECH, as 2,362 students benefit

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a financial disbursement of ₦211m to the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
In a formal acknowledgment from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, LASUSTECH confirmed the receipt of ₦211,154,000.
This payment represents the second batch of funding for the 2025/2026 academic session, specifically benefiting 2,362 students who applied for the student loan program.
Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, expressed his appreciation for the intervention, which directly supports the academic pursuits of thousands of students at the University of Excellence.
Also, the Managing Director and CEO of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, led a senior delegation to Bayero University, Kano, as part of the Fund’s ongoing nationwide stakeholder engagement drive.
The visit was designed to strengthen the collaboration between the Fund and northern institutions, ensuring that the implementation of the student loan scheme remains seamless and efficient.
During discussions with BUK leadership, Mr. Sawyerr highlighted the operational progress of the scheme and explored new strategies to expand sustainable financing for students in the region.
The engagement underscored NELFUND’s focus on transparency and inclusiveness, ensuring that no eligible student is left behind due to financial constraints.
These dual developments, the multi-million naira disbursement in Lagos and the strategic dialogue in Kano reinforce NELFUND’s dedication to building a more equitable education system.
NELFUND has also reaffirmed its commitment to the 2025/2026 academic cycle, promising continued diligence in fund distribution and stakeholder management to foster a stronger, more inclusive educational landscape across the federation.
