The command said it also secured the conviction of 12 suspects and dismantled 40 drug joints across the state within the period under review.

The command’s Press Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sani Garba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Kaduna.

Garba said the seizures comprised cannabis sativa, tramadol, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and other psychotropic substances.

He said the command had also intensified efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks through the closure of 40 drug joints.

Garba added that 12 suspects were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms, while 10 others had been charged to court.

He said investigations into other cases were ongoing.

The press officer said the command was also implementing non-kinetic strategies to reduce the demand for illicit drugs through public sensitisation campaigns, counselling and rehabilitation services for people affected by drug abuse.

He said the initiatives were aimed at educating residents on the dangers of drug abuse and supporting efforts to address substance dependence.

The NDLEA State Commander, Maijama’a Muhammad, commended officers and men of the command for their diligence and professionalism.

Muhammad also appreciated stakeholders and residents of Kaduna for their support and cooperation, which he said contributed to the achievements recorded.

He called for sustained public support and collaboration to strengthen the fight against illicit drugs in the state.
