Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga has labelled the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a platform for politically displaced and desperate actors.
In a statement on X, Onanuga noted that following his personal research into the party’s platform and the high-profile defections of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to the party, the NDC has failed to present a coherent vision or manifesto for the country.
Onanuga revealed that his attempts to access the party’s official manifesto via its website were unsuccessful, resulting in “No document found” errors.
He argued that a party positioning itself to wage an ideological battle in the 2027 general elections should have more to offer than empty digital links.
According to the presidential aide, the party has not uploaded any formal policy document since its court-ordered registration in February, leaving voters in the dark regarding its actual governance strategy.
Criticizing the party’s current public offerings, Onanuga dismissed the six policy nuggets highlighted by the NDC as mere platitudes rather than structural pillars.
He specifically compared these points to the rhetoric frequently used by Peter Obi over the last six years, suggesting that the NDC is simply recycling old slogans without providing a markedly different vision from President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Onanuga further challenged the NDC to move beyond hosting political wanderers and to enunciate a clear mission for Nigeria, asserting that the party currently lacks the intellectual and policy depth required to challenge the incumbent administration’s programmes.
