Nasarawa SSG tasks Tinubu support groups on grassroots mobilisation

Dr Labaran Magaji, Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, has urged pro-Tinubu support groups to prioritise grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Magaji made the call on Friday in Lafia while receiving the Tinubu Project 27 Support Group, led by National Coordinator, Mr Olushola Olawore.

He said rallies were no longer sufficient to secure electoral victories, urging support groups to identify and address challenges affecting the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Since we are getting too many rallies, the state government cannot sponsor all the rallies organised by groups.

“Sponsoring a rally is the least of the challenges that APC has today. On the day of the election, a rally doesn’t win an election.

“You do a rally today, opposition will say, ‘Oh, he hired a crowd’; let’s rather focus on grassroots mobilisation,” Magaji said.

The SSG said President Bola Tinubu would win the 2027 presidential election in Nasarawa State, but warned against individuals exploiting his re-election bid.

“Whether we like it or not, Nasarawa State, this time around, Tinubu is winning the election.

“Tinubu is winning the election 100 per cent in Nasarawa State,” he said.

Magaji urged the group to study Nasarawa, identify challenges emerging after the APC primary elections and develop practicable solutions.

He also commended Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the removal of petrol subsidy in 2023 had increased revenue accruing to Nasarawa State.

According to him, increased revenue had enabled the state to execute projects including the Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia roads, flyovers, underpasses and the State Secretariat Complex.

He said the projects were executed without borrowing, while contractors received at least 50 per cent mobilisation fees.

“Nasarawa State is not owing anybody. How dare we not say thank you to President Tinubu?” Magaji said.

He assured the group that he would brief Gov. Abdullahi Sule on its proposal after the governor returned from an overseas trip.

Magaji advised the group to repackage its proposal to focus on grassroots mobilisation rather than solely seeking government sponsorship for rallies.

Earlier, Olawore said the group sought to organise a rally in Nasarawa State as a litmus test of its mobilisation capacity ahead of Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He said the group was currently active in 32 states and sought partnership with the Nasarawa State Government for the proposed rally.

Olawore said the group was working for Tinubu’s re-election and had documented his administration’s achievements in a book.

He identified the publication as ‘Tinubu’s Transformation: The Renewed Hope Journey’.
