NAFDAC, Denmark deepen cooperation on medicines, food safety

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has received a delegation from the Embassy of Denmark, as both countries move to strengthen regulatory cooperation in medicines, food safety, and public health.

The engagement, which focused on stakeholder discussions, aims to improve technical collaboration and explore areas where Nigeria and Denmark can work together to strengthen healthcare regulation and the pharmaceutical sector.

According to NAFDAC, the meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss issues surrounding medicines regulation, pharmaceutical supply chains, food safety, and broader public health concerns.

The agency said the partnership would support efforts to improve regulatory standards while promoting greater cooperation between relevant institutions in both countries.

NAFDAC noted that the engagement was “aimed at strengthening regulatory cooperation and technical collaboration in healthcare, medicines regulation, pharmaceutical supply chains, food safety, and public health.”

The agency also highlighted the importance of stronger partnerships in addressing challenges within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, particularly in ensuring that medicines and other regulated products meet the required safety and quality standards.

The Danish delegation’s visit is expected to further deepen cooperation between Nigeria and Denmark, particularly in areas where technical knowledge and regulatory experience can contribute to better public health outcomes.

NAFDAC has continued to pursue collaborations with international partners as part of its efforts to improve Nigeria’s regulatory environment and protect consumers from unsafe medicines, food products, and other regulated commodities.

The latest engagement is expected to open further opportunities for knowledge sharing, technical support, and stronger institutional relationships between Nigeria and Denmark.
