The Azeez family has accused Mrs. Azeez-Afolabi Olaide Ganiyat, a wife and mother within the family, of engaging in a same-sex relationship with another woman.
This has prompted an active push by her in-laws to secure her prosecution through a thorough police investigation.
The allegation against Azeez-Afolabi centers on an incident that occurred at her matrimonial home in Adetunji Estate, Osogbo, on Sunday, December 2, 2023, when her mother-in-law reportedly caught her in the act with a longtime female friend, Olabisi Suliyat.
According to an account made available to our correspondent, Azeez-Afolabi married Mr. Teslim Azeez in 2020, and the couple share a two-year-old son.
The Azeez family, described as devout Muslims, alleged that concerns had previously been raised regarding Azeez-Afolabi’s conduct, prompting relatives to monitor her activities. Her mother-in-law claimed that during private surveillance, Olaide had repeatedly been seen in compromising positions indicative of an intimate relationship, culminating in the pair being caught red-handed.
Following the discovery, relatives moved to apprehend both women. While Suliyat was detained and handed over to the police for investigation, Azeez-Afolabi reportedly fled the area and has remained in hiding since.
The family also raised concerns over the whereabouts of Azeez-Afolabi’s son, stating that the child disappeared alongside his mother.
The Azeez family stated that they remain determined to see the allegations thoroughly investigated, continuing their efforts to gather evidence and ensure that Azeez-Afolabi is located and prosecuted.
They further claimed that their private inquiries uncovered substantial evidence of an unlawful same-sex relationship.
Sources from the Police Criminal Investigation Department reportedly indicated that testimony obtained from Suliyat, alongside examined phone records, pointed to an intimate relationship between Suliyat and Azeez-Afolabi.

The family stated that the matter has remained unresolved since December 2023, as efforts continue to locate the suspect. They added that they are actively collaborating with the police, community members, and local religious groups to trace Azeez-Afolabi’s whereabouts and bring her to justice.
