Moremi Review, Jakky Bankong-Obi host International Women’s Day poetry reading

To mark International Women’s Day 2025, Moremi Review is bringing together an exciting lineup of poets from across Africa for a special virtual reading celebrating women’s voices and literary excellence.

The event, taking place on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm (UTC+1) via Google Meet, will be hosted by acclaimed Nigerian poet Jakky Bankong-Obi. She will be joined by Special Guest Akosua Zimba Afiriye-Hwedie, alongside seven other outstanding poets:

  2. Mariam Hassan (Tanzania)
  3. Zaynab Iliyasu Bobi (Nigeria)
  4. Naomi Nduta Waweru (Kenya)
  5. Fatihah Quadri Eniola (Nigeria)

  7. James-Ibe Chinaza (Nigeria)

With a diverse mix of voices, styles, and perspectives, it promises to be an evening of powerful storytelling, thought-provoking themes, and lyrical brilliance.
