Money Market funds hit N6.49trn, as top yields cross 21%

Nigeria’s moneymarket fund segment expanded to N6.49 trillion in net asset value (NAV) as of September 11, 2026, rising 0.23 percent from N6.48 trillion the previous week, according to data from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The increase further solidifies moneymarketfunds as the dominant vehicle in Nigeria’s collective investment scheme industry, accounting for 67.95 percent of the total market.
The segment continued to generate robust returns, with top-performing funds delivering year-to-date (YTD) yields above 21 percent.
The ten highest-yielding funds held combined assets of approximately N223.21 billion, representing roughly 3.44 percent of total moneymarket fund assets.
Zedcrest MoneyMarket Fund emerged as the highest-yielding fund in the September 11 assessment, posting a 21.52 percent YTD return. The fund recorded an NAV of N22.11 billion and 10,703 unitholders, up from N21.55 billion a week earlier, outpacing Coronation.
Meanwhile, Coronation MoneyMarket Fund ranked second with a 21.00 percent YTD yield, as its NAV climbed to N109.23 billion from N107.22 billion the prior week. The fund remained one of the largest in the category, boasting 22,504 unitholders the highest count among the top ten funds by yield.
Overall, moneymarketfunds sustained a combination of elevated YTD yields and steady capital inflows. Aggregate NAV rose by approximately N14.65 billion week-on-week, advancing from N6.48 trillion to N6.49 trillion as top-tier managers continued to grow their portfolios.
