The Nigerian Army School of Military Police and the Nigerian Army School of Legal Services, Zaria, have jointly graduated 221 personnel to strengthen capacity against security challenges.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Zaria on Friday, Brig.-Gen. Anthony Wende, Commandant, Warrant Officers Academy, said the training was designed to prepare the graduates for greater operational challenges.

Wende, Special Guest at the occasion, said the certification awarded upon completion of the various courses would attract additional responsibilities to the personnel in their respective formations.

He expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills acquired during the training would enhance the graduates’ professional competence and strengthen their capacity to tackle the country’s security challenges.

The commandant urged the graduating personnel to sustain the high standards of discipline demonstrated during training as they return to their respective formations to discharge their assigned responsibilities.

“The Nigerian Army requires well-trained personnel to effectively address internal security threats bedeviling parts of the country.

“Therefore, continuous training remains essential to operational effectiveness.

“These myriad security threats require proactive measures to overcome them; therefore, there is no amount of training that could be too much,” Wende said.

Earlier, Brig.-Gen. Onalapo Yakubu had  said that the training was conducted in the third quarter of 2026 in line with directives from the Army Headquarters Department of Training and TRADOC, Nigerian Army.

He said the exercise was conducted with support from the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police and the Department of Legal Services, Nigerian Army.

Yakubu said the school had maintained high standards of discipline in learning and instruction, adding that only personnel who met the minimum requirements in character and academic performance were allowed to graduate.

The newsmen report that courses offered to military police personnel included the Military Police Officers Special Investigation Course, Prosecution Witness Course and Close Protection Course.

Others are the Military Police Advanced B1 Course and MP K9 B2 Course designed to equip personnel with specialised skills for effective performance of their assigned duties.

The Nigerian Army School of Legal Services also trained personnel in Legislative Drafting Basic Course and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Refresher Course on Military and Civil Laws, among other programmes.
