Miley Cyrus reveals final conversation with Godmother, Dolly Parton

Miley Cyrus is paying tribute to her godmother, Dolly Parton, following the country music icon’s passing at age 80 on August 25.

“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share.”

“Our most sacred moments were private, and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour, and between our hearts.”

“What I know is that Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side.”

“I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis,” Cyrus wrote in an Instagram post on August 26.

Cyrus added that she will always love her godmother and hopes to make her proud.

“My heart breaks for the world, her family, and the friends who will miss her deeply.”

“We are in this loss together, and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things,” she concluded.

The two shared a close bond spanning decades both on and off screen. Beyond playing Cyrus’s godmother on Hannah Montana, the 32-year-old singer collaborated with Parton on tracks including the 2023 version of “Wrecking Ball” and 2017’s “Rainbowland.”

In 2024, the duo also discovered through genealogical research that they were biologically related as seventh cousins, once removed.
