Mighty Jets Mata of Plateau on Wednesday defeated Kada Queens of Kaduna 4-1 in a women’s playoff match of the 2026 President Federation Cup in Abuja.

The report states that the match, played at the Area 3 Football Pitch, started on a dramatic note as Kada Queens took the lead just 38 seconds into the game.

Kada Queens captain, Janet Dalyop, scored from about 23 yards to give her side an early advantage.

Mighty Jets Mata responded swiftly, with Favour Philemon capitalising on a defensive error to equalise.

The Plateau-based side sustained pressure and took the lead in the 27th minute when Blessing Swalez scored off an assist from Christlove Chris to make it 2-1.

On resumption of the second half, both teams battled for control in midfield, but Mighty Jets Mata extended their lead in the 68th minute through Jemmimah Daniel.

Favour Nicholas sealed the victory in the 83rd minute with the fourth goal.

Speaking after the match, Head Coach of Mighty Jets Mata, Gadus Frank, attributed the victory to thorough preparation and participation in grassroots competitions.

“We performed well and our preparation started from grassroots tournaments, which kept the team in good shape ahead of the Federation Cup.

“We are confident going forward and will wait to see our next opponents. I believe the girls will perform even better.

“In the previous edition, we finished in the round of 16, and I am happy we have surpassed that achievement this year. I also commend Kada Queens for their performance,” he said.

In his remarks, Coach of Kada Queens, Aminu Shuaibu, described the loss as part of the learning process for his team.

“In football, you win, lose or draw, but today was not our day.

“We will return to the drawing board and continue rebuilding for future competitions.

“This is a young team, as many of our former players are now in the NWFL or playing abroad. We are regrouping and hope to improve in the coming months,” he said.

Kada Queens captain, Janet Dalyop, also acknowledged the team’s shortcomings and pledged improvement.

“We will rebuild, refocus and train harder to come back stronger,” she said.

NAN reports that the 2026 Women’s President Federation Cup playoffs feature eight teams competing for places in the Round of 32.

Other fixtures include NAF Queens (FCT) against Model Queens (Kwara), Bayelsa Princesses (Bayelsa) versus Ikukuoma Queens (Imo), and Zorha Queens (Enugu) against Esthington FC (Ebonyi).

Winners from the playoff ties will advance to join 28 other teams in the main knockout stage of the competition.
