Man remanded for alleged N1.5m fraud

A Karu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Monday remanded a 39-year-old man, Simon Adejoh, for allegedly defrauding a woman, Jamilatu Sani, of N1.5 million.

The judge, Ishaq Hassan, ordered that Adejoh be remanded in prison until Nov. 18, to determine his bail condition.

The defendant, a resident of Kurudu, Abuja, is facing trial for criminal breach of trust and cheating, offences he denied committing.

The prosecutor, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that sometime in April, the defendant deceitfully collected two Honda cars, valued at N1.5 million from Sani, under the pretence of helping her to sell it.

Osho alleged that after selling the said cars, the defendant failed to remit the money to the owner, rather, he converted the said money to his own personal use.
The prosecutor said, the offences contravened sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
